3CX Phone - Voicemail Setup

These instructions are to be completed once you have a working phone app, Mac or PC. Then proceed on to the following steps to complete your voicemail setup.


  1. From your 3CX Welcome email, find your extension’s pin. You will be prompted for it at the next step.
  2. From a 3CX phone client, dial 2550.
  3. Enter your extension pin from your 3CX Welcome message.
  4. Press 9 for Options
  5. Press 5 to change your Self Identification Message. Your Self Identification message is simply you stating your first and last name.             

  6. Press 0 to record a new Self Identification Message. At the prompt record your first and last name. Speak loud and clear.

    Example: “Charles Darwin"


  7. Press 0 again to save the message.
  8. Press # to return to the main menu.
  9. Press 8 to change your voicemail greeting. This is the message callers will hear when they reach your voicemail box.

  10. Press 0 to record a new voicemail greeting.           

    Example: “Hello, you’ve reached Charles Darwin of Hoffman York. I am currently away from my phone. Please leave your name, number, and short message, and I will return your call promptly. Thank you and have a great day.”


  11. Press 0 to save the greeting.
  12. Setup is complete, you may now end the call.
